The delegation of Ukrainian experts participated in the workshop devoted to the Ukrainian and Turkish cooperation on education in the sphere of nuclear energy and safety, which was conducted in the Ankara University Institute of Nuclear Science (Turkey).
“Thanks to joint efforts, we were able to arrange a meeting of leading nuclear experts of both countries. Now they have the opportunity to share their theoretical and practical knowledge. It will be useful both for Ukraine and Turkey. Of course, Ukraine can retrain Turkish experts on nuclear energy and safety. The main thing for us now is to sign bilateral agreements on cooperation with universities in order to arrange a student exchange”, said Andrii Sybiha, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Turkey.
The State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (SSTC NRS) was represented by Oleksii Dybach, SSTC NRS Scientific Director, who spoke on practical aspects of cooperation in the nuclear safety area.
According to workshop results, Andrii Sybiha stated that Ukrainian higher educational institutions are ready to train Turkish nuclear physicists. The need for such experts has arisen particularly in relation to Turkey’s plans to construct two nuclear power plants: Akkuyu NPP in Mersin Province and Sinop NPP in Sinop Province.
