On the eve of winter holidays, many families are trying to buy Christmas trees, without which Christmas and New Year do not seem possible. Often, fir trees at markets were taken directly from forests and forest plantations. This is why the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety joined the all-Ukrainian campaign “Save Christmas Tree”.
Fir tree lives for a long time up to two hundred years. It helps to keep air fresh, saturates it with essential oils that treat viral and infectious diseases. Coniferous forests protect soil from erosion. Massive deforestation, especially in the Carpathians, causes floods and the drying of mountain streams.
Every year people hack down hundreds and even thousands of trees for their own joy. In a week or two, the dead trees are traditionally piled up in garbage dumps.
SSTC NRS main objective is to work for safety and environmental care is the immediate task of the enterprise. Therefore, we find it important to join the prevention of massive seasonal deforestation.
Fir tree is not a game. It is alive. We urge not to be thoughtless and not to teach our children to be savages by hurting the living things for fun. Let us teach them to be humane, responsible and kind-hearted. The fir tree shall live in the forest, not in the apartment.
Decorate your home with an artificial Christmas tree or decorate a tree growing in your yard. A Christmas tree in a pot that can be planted in the open ground in spring will be a good gift to your friends.
The SSTC NRS joins the all-Ukrainian campaign “Save Christmas Tree” and encourages everybody to support it.
